An education for life

Forest School Development Days For Childcare Studies

Tailored Learning

We understand that every course has unique learning objectives. That’s why each Forest School day can be tailored to your specification and childcare pathways. We can focus on the particular units your students are studying to maximise the relevance and impact of the experience.

Give your students the chance to see child development theory in action—outside the classroom and in the heart of nature.

Bring Child Development Theory to Life in the Outdoors

Manor House Forest School is excited to offer a bespoke, practical learning day designed specifically for school, college and university students studying Child Development or Health & Social Care or Childcare courses of a similar nature.

Our seven-acre woodland site provides a rich, immersive environment where students can experience child development in action. This hands-on approach allows learners to explore how outdoor play nurtures physical development, emotional wellbeing, risk management, creativity, and independence – bringing classroom theory to life in a real-world setting.

What the Day Includes

During the day, students will:

Participate in a real Forest School session, led by our Level 3 Forest School Practitioners

Observe and discuss how outdoor environments promote child-led learning and development

Take part in practical activities such as den building, tool use, fire skills, and natural play

Explore how practitioners manage risk, safeguarding, and inclusive practice in an outdoor context

Reflect on how Forest School supports curriculum outcomes linked to child development theory

“This helped my understanding since we did activities children would do to improve their fine and gross motor skills alongside communication skills.” “It helped me understand how children communicate, play together, and express feelings through gestures and expressions.”
